The brief
Emma runs a custom cowboy hat bar. Guests pick a hat, style it with ribbons, pins and feathers, then have names and symbols branded into the brim. She brings the bar to festivals, country nights, hen dos and birthdays, including ten days at Brean country music festival this summer.
Her Instagram and TikTok were fun, but not somewhere an event organiser could book her. She wanted a more grown-up home, a clear way for organisers to find and book her, and an easy way to book hat parties. There's no online shop: the hats are made at events.
The idea
The fun of the hat bar is designing your own, so we let people start online. The live hat designer lets you choose a colour, type what you'd brand on the brim, add symbols, extra trimmings and feathers, and watch the price update from the same board Emma brings to every event.
When you're happy, one tap sends the design into the hat party enquiry form, so Emma sees exactly what you have in mind before she replies.
Design
A western boutique after dark: espresso and leather tones, parchment reading sections, brass hairlines and a single warm ember glow. A refined Bodoni display face gives it a premium, grown-up feel that her socials couldn't.
Every photo was graded to one warm look, and her best brim work was cut out from its background so the hats themselves become the artwork.
Two ways to book
Party planners and event organisers want different things, so they get different routes. Hat parties explain the occasions, what's included and how booking works, with a three-step enquiry form. The events page speaks to organisers, with what the bar brings and where it fits, and its own two-step form.
All enquiries go through a small server function on the site itself, with spam protection built in, and land straight in Emma's inbox with the customer's details and hat design ready to reply to.
Tested before launch
Before going live, every page was audited on mobile and desktop. Speed fixes took mobile performance from the 70s and 80s to 96–100: self-hosted fonts, preloaded hero images, and a reworked ember animation that pauses when you scroll past it.
The site was checked for accessibility on every page, tested at ten screen widths with no sideways scrolling, and given structured data so Google understands it's a local business with a price list and service area.
